98 expedition with electrical problems
I own a 98 expedition with 130K miles on it. I have had several issues and paid the stealerships tons of money but thanks to this forum and all of your help I have receintly been able to stop that. I was able to fix my intermitent miss firing by checking my cops, good, then finding how the stealership butchered my wiring harness at one point but not fixing the problem. It ended up being the electrical plug to the cop. Junk yard gave it to me free and been great eversince. I now have a couple other issues. First, how do I fix the stupid gas cap sensor to get my check engine light to go off? Second, I have had issues with the door ajar light coming on when everything is shut. I have messed with the switch but still comes back. Last night it started doing it on and off when I was driving. That was a first. I have already pulled the relay to keep my lights from staying on but that is getting anoying. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks and you guys rock!

Search under "door ajar", lots of posts. WD-40 cures the problem. make sure you get the back gate and window latches along with the 4 doors.
Can you have someone read the code on the CEL, are you sure it's the gas cap? Some of the local parts suppliers will read and clear codes for free. If it returns then perhaps the problem needs to be addressed. Good Luck.

have heard about the wd-40. Going to try that today. I had the code checked and cleared a month ago saying it was the gas cap. It came on again the next day so I assumed it was the same thing, gas cap. I will have it checked again to be certain. Thanks for the info.
