4 wheel clunk
I have a 79 F-150 4x4 (C-6,NP 205, Dana 44 front, 9 in. out back). My question is when I lock the hubs in and go to turn the wheel sharp it makes a clunking noise. The truck sat for about 2 years before I got it a year ago. And my dad who was the orignal owner said it never made that noise before. I was wondering if maybe some one had an idea of what it is. Thanks for any help.

Sounds like the steering knuckles are froze up - The U-Joints at the end of the front axles. Mine are clunking too, have to bite the bullet and get to them before this winter when I need 4WD. This truck sat for a little over a year before I got it about 6 weeks ago. Rear wheel cylinders were froze up, Master cylinder leaked, a rotten brake line, etc. Sitting is hard on them.
