Can any one talk me through how to go about having my fog lights on when I turn on the highbeams. They work fine with the low beams but Ford came up with a great idea to have them shut off when you switch on the high beams???? Go figure.
I have a F150 2001, 5-speed manual tranny, 4X4.
Thanks
Please dont respond if you are going to say "why would you want your fog lights on with your high beams, bla bla bla." Its because I want them too....

I will just respond to your comment about Ford's "great idea". It's not their idea, it's the law in a lot of states that they have to be that way. It will not pass inspection unless they work that way in my state and many others. Just thought you would like to know.
It may not matter, I don't know. Some states do not have inspections either, but that doesn't mean a cop will not pull you over for it, though that is probably very unlikely.
I have never modified this on your actual vehicle, but what you are going to be basically doing is changing the power feed for the foglamp switch. The foglamp switch gets it's power from the low beams. That's why they only come on with the lowbeams. You need to get to this wire on the switch and cut it, and add a new wire that is hot with the key on, and then the switch will have power all the time. Don't worry about it carrying any load, because all the switch does is trigger a foglamp relay.
If your doing it for more visibility it's a waste of time. Your eyes utilize the high beams better without them. Get some driving lights to use w/ the highs if you want better visibility.
