cv boot cracked
2000 f-150 4wd outer cv boot cracked--any fix other than disassemble and replace? Just purchased this truck and not sure how long it has been this way. What type of grease can be used when repaired or replaced? Thanks for your help--I am new at this as you can tell.

Soemtimes pulling CV joints can be a pain, and since I'm lazy 
I'd do only the side with the broken boot, unless there's a problem with the other one. There's a CV joint grease -- you need to use that.

After many years in a Ford dealership I am of the opinion that the factory boots are the best. Most of the pickup boots I have seen were damaged by something bouncing up from the ground. I don't recall any on pickups that just split open from fatigue.
