DT466 into an OBS....

I dont know if this is even the right forum, but ohh well.

Any one done it???? I have measure one out of a 2 ton and it would be a MAJOR squeeze. I imagine they got to be heavy too. still set on a 5.9 swap, but I was also dreaming a dt466 just for originality. keep the allison that was behind it, or 5 speed. two wheel of course.

opnions, worth it or dont even waste the time???

Talking Engine swap

I agree that the DT466 would be a sqweez and way to heavy. I'd have to call my local IH dealer to get a wet weight. But I would go for looking at the VT365 inline.Thats a very hot little engine and its about the same size as the Cummins 5.9. Another tough engine is the Perkins 6-354. I have a fork lift that is 35 years old and only had the cover off once for a valve adj. and gasket.

The VT365 is the same basic engine as a 6.0 Powerstroke...it is a V-8, not an inline....I have never heard of an inline version

I knew a guy that did put a 466 and 9 speed into an F350, but unfortunately, I can't give specifics on how he got it done...

Too heavy. You'd have to reinforce the front suspension to accomodate.

I would personally love to see this swap. If nothing else, to be original. Everybody who does a swap throws the Cummins in there, but wouldn't it be kick *** to see the DT466? Like I said in the dream diesel thread. 1979 Crewcab, with a DT466. It would be so cool to do.

I PM'd the guy on TDS that has a DT466 in his 89 F350. Looks like a 6" body lift, but it fits. I can email pictures if you like, he sent me a few(& I cant post pictures on here). Or maybe a moderator can help me put them on. I'd like to have a '93-95 DT466(600hp-ish) in a mid 60's F6-800 krew kab

Old body style. in other words the style of F series trucks wehre the 150 body and the 350 look exactly alike. now only the 250, and 350 look alike.
