Is it bad to run the trany off of ported vacume instead of manifold vacume? I like the way it shifts down on ported vacume and keeps my R's up. Helps with the brakes, acceleration ect. Just want to make sure it not going to hurt my trany. Thanx.
I'm sure someone has ran a auto trany off of ported vacume. Was there any long term problems? I was told by a tranny guy that he always hooked them up to manifold vacume weither they came that way or not, but that means that some auto tranys where plumbed off of ported vacume from the factory for him to change it. Anyone have any comments?
I just had her rebuilt, had all the heavy duty stuff down to it, more clutches the better planetarys ect, so not worried of wearing it out anytime soon. I do like how on ported vacume it will drop into 2nd at about 30mph and then into first around 15 mph. It keeps my R's up so when I step on it it doesn't have to shift down, it already there. It also keeps a higher vacume, that aids my power brakes. It just seems more performance oriented on ported vacume than on manifold. On manifold vacume it doesn't shift down till I stop, or till I engage the kick down linkage. Just wanted to know if running ported vacume would do anything bad to the tarny thanx.
