The springs are meant to have a certain amount of return "pressure". If you lighten this, your throttle will be slow to return to idle or, may not return to idle completely. Other than that, shouldn't be an issue. Just try and test it out while parked first to make sure it isn't going to cause any probs with throttle position. Also try it out when the motor is off to see if it will handle going to WOT and back. You want to make sure the spring can handle the stretching without breaking.
