Is there some stlye of sealed beam that will fit in the stock bucket of '38 lamps?? Has anyone just bought the new reflectors and stayed with the 6V bulbs, how'd that work? I've also been seeing some trucks for sale with hdlts that have the little bulb unit on top for prkg lites. Could those be rigged for turn sig's?? Tks~JH
I did this when I converted an old 8n Ford tractor to 12 volts, and it worked fine. I took the ground off one of the bulbs, and the power feed off the other bulb. I then hooked a new wire from the ground of the one bulb to the power feed of the other. This put the two 6 v bulbs in series, which made it ok to run them on 12 volts.
I don't know much about a 38 truck. But 12 volt halogens fit fine in my 53 f100 when I converted it over to 12 volts. I also converted the marker lights under the headlights to turnsignals. I just went to the local auto store and got a metal socket that took the 1157 bulbs. I made the hole bigger and snapped the new socket in place. This bulb is dual filament, so it gave me marker lights and turn signal lights all in one.
