Shes got 306,000 on er and shes tired, but I've got a question still. Truck idles fine. Just recently pulled the codes and it says EGR valve opening not detected. I replaced it with another one and now the light only comes on while i let off the gas with it still in gear, like when I'm goin down a hill. Once I get back into the throttle, light goes away.
Granted its worn out for sure, would this cause it to have a slight miss under load? If I've got er mashed to the floor, no miss. I can hear it miss through the exhaust when I have the back window open, but only when its not on the floor. Any suggestions on what to look for?
I was able to keep my check engine light off by re-rigging the "check valve" (I think its called, its where the vacuum line comes in from the EGR valve) except for when i let off the gas to go down hill, without takin it out of gear. Any decelleration without taking it out of gear will throw the light back on. I pulled the codes before I rigged my check valve and it said code 33, egr valve opening not detected.
My question is, should I replace the egr valve again, or just buy a new "check valve"?
I would run the pinpoint tests to determine the exact problem, drop me an email if you need a copy, please remind me about your truck, code and problem.
