How to identify a 302
Hi,im just wondering how to indentify a 302. I was at the junkyard today looking for a ford v8 and i found a ford v8 sitting on the ground in the pile of engines. i know for sure its a ford v8 but have no idea what kind,im pretty sure its a 302 but whats the best way to check to find out if it is or not? Thanks in advance!

289's and 302's from '65 to '75 will appear identical. 302's have a cast in "302" in the lifter valley (you have to pull the intake to see it). If it only has 5 bolts for the bellhousing, it's a pre-65 289.
