Ultra flows are a glorified glasspack, they burn out, break at the seams etc. where as the magnaflows have a smoother tone, don't burn out and don't fall apart. also a heck of a lot cheaper I once priced a dual in/out magnaflow (non stainless) and it cost around $150 +/- a bit, the same ultraflow was at my discount $350 canadian. My buddy has true duals on his '96 ram, with ultras, the first set broke on the welds, and only lasted a monthy before burning out, they cost him $268 each while magnaflows would have been $90 (2.25" in/out 20" overall length, but could be the next size shorter) So in general, they are a joke.
good god....i dont know if we are talking about the same dynomax's here??? my 4 inch in & out 26 inch long ultra flow fully welded has never broken??
dynomax and magnaflow seem to be the same quality to me, is there really a difference?? they both have perforated cores, some type of packing matierial, full welded seams which are both available in many diffrent configs??? is there any difference?
magnaflows have stainless steel mesh inside, not fiberglass. Also I had 2 dynomax super turbo's and they didn't break or anything. Wierd and they were on there for 2 years..
Nope, the ultra flows are all fiberglass inside, magnaflow is stainless around the core then somthing else to fill the rest of the case. Once they break in the sound stays the same. They may be close to the same quaility but magnaflow is oh so much cheaper and way more worth the money.
What about differences in there headers???
I saw a nice pair of dynomax headers, and was just wondering if there is any difference between those and say magnaflow, hedman, hooker, ect...???
Yup, look for thick flanges, if you can afford it try and find stainless ones, also the thickest primaries you can find, they should last well. Never seen a pair of dynomax headers but like the rest of thier stuff I am going to say way overpriced LOL.
I'm surprised taht you all say that dynomax is expensive, because I always thoug of it a a cheaper brand. I only paid $90 for the Dynomax super turbo cat back for my car.
