On the way home yesterday, I lost my clutch completely{pedal to the floor}. Got under the truck and fluid was spraying out of a small crack in the bottom of the clutch slave. The slave was easy to get off the mount by releasing the clip. Question is: Do I have to bleed this system when I replace the slave? If so-How? Also there is a rubber hose from the top of the slave that connects to a metal line. Does this rubber piece and connector come with the new slave or do I take it off the old one? Any tricks to re-installing the unit? Any thing to look out for? Thanks for any help!

Yes, you'll have to bleed it. I understand they can be a real pain to bleed; when I did mine I had both the master and slave off the truck and was able to bench bleed them before putting them back on. I used a home-made bleeder powered by the air compressor to force fluid through the assembly.
I don't know about any rubber connector. On mine the hydraulic line between the master and the slave is a hard plastic line with metal fittings at either end. You have to press out a metal pin from the slave or master cylinder in order to remove the metal fitting.
take a plastic turkey baster, add a rubber hose to the business end. 1)fill it with brake fluid.2) put a wrench on the bleeder, and the hose over the wrench, onto the bleeder .3) open the bleeder, and squeeze the fluid out through the slave and fill the master, close the bleeder. job done good luck Phil PS don't use the wife's baster
