Hello all....I've been a GM man for 35 yrs ...now at 49 I really like my 2000 Excursion Limited 4X4 V10 3:73 gears...I pull a 27' TT 7500 lbs wet..I'm thinking of changing to 4:30's ...or adding a Gear Vendor to free up some torque for pulling up the Canadian BC mountains...Questions...is it an overdrive, or an underdrive, or both?...when it's in second over, changing to 3rd direct, does the transmision change to 3rd, while the Vendor is changing back to underdrive, does it klunk around , is it smooth???....Please advise...I like the idea of keeping the 3:73's for gas mileage...I like the idea of 8 gears, although the 8th gear [4th over] may never be used...any info, or opions from you FORD veterens would be most welcome...thanks guys
You can get them in underdrive/direct or direct/overdrive. I recall you can order different percentage of under and over also. With any driveline addition with gears your going to add a little more driveline slack, with an auto it's not as bad as with a manual trans. They are of high quality as well price.
.....=o&o>.....
