Abs
So when I take off from a complete stop (6 spd in 1st gear) and the engine dogs a little bit (goes to about 500 rpm), my ABS light pops on and stares me in the face until I shut the truck off and it is not on when I start it later.
Is it front end issues? I have heard that SD are succeptable for front end problems. its a 2k.

You should probably have your truck scanned.......not checked for error codes. The ABS controller is an entirely different animal from the PCM. I don't think you can get around not visiting a Stealership for this one.....if I'm wrong, someone will correct me. There is probably a wheel sensor that isn't passing self-test when your at low speed. The VSS may be another candidate since the problem only occures at low speed. Just some things to think about.
