unsafe steering!

I finnaly got my 67 f100 2wd back on the road a few days ago, it has a 4" lift, blocks in the back, 4" lift coils in the front, and drop brackets for the i-beams. The steering and radius arms are stock, also have rancho 5000's all around. It has no power-steering and when i took it out it was very scary to drive. The steering has a lot of play, and when you hit a bump its hard to control the truck. Also if you swerve to the right or left it is very hard to get it to straighten it up again. Im trying to figure out what I should do with this so it is safer to drive. An alignment has not been done, and I dont think it will solve the problem. pictures of lift in gallery

I don't know how the truck handled before the lift but if it was fine prior to the suspension modifications you really need to start with alignment as this is the only things that's really changed since. Other causes for the wandering/slop in steering could be the sector shaft on the steering box needs to be tightened (nut on top of the steering box) but again this shouldn't be any different than it was prior to the lift. The bump steer that you are experiencing sounds like it could be due to the angle of your steering linkage (drag link) but again, that's hard to remedy without a proper alignment.
