Question injectors

My question is anyone know the life of fuel injectors for a gas engine? My 92 4.9 inline 6 has 223,000.00 miles on it. For months my check engine light kept comming on, sometimes for a short period and at times for several minutes. The codes kept comming up rich on o2 sensor. changed sensor, and did general tune up and light stayed off for awhile but still didn't seem to run right. Codes continued to come up rich and gas milage go down. Finaly got rid of catalitic converters but still did not totaly fix problem. I've replaced just about every sensor and still has slow throttle response and just dosen't feel right. I should say that it uses no oil between changes, all cylinders have 150 to 155 lbs. compression, air and fuel filters are new, the plugs, distibuter cap, rotor, plug wires are all new. Fuel pressure at the schrader valve is 48 (fuel pressure regulator is new). So all that said truck still runs good for as many miles as it has but gas milage has gone to about 10 in town and maybe 12 on the hiway. Just doesn't feel like the power and response is there like it shoiuld be, I know I lost some low end by removing cat. converter. So back to my original question how many think the injectors could just be wore out? I don't know of a simple way to test them.

it sure sounds like you have a leaking injector or three. I beleive the fuel pressure should be 55# not 48. So given that your already low on the fuel poressure side and your still getting rich codes.... Are you getting the adaptive limit reached code too?

I don't recall the adaptive limit code comming up. The hego sensor dosen't switch back and forth though like it should( and it is new). It just pretty much stays rich, unless I introduce some fresh air into the sytem by disconecting the pvc hose. Also when I first start it the engine quit its quick idle untill its warm. I cleaned the IAC when that didn't help I replaced it. That didn't fix it so I replaced the ECT and it still stays at low idle. This also makes me think Injectors leaking and loading up cylinders. Thanks for the input greatly appreciated.
