i just picked up a 2002 crew cab PSD with a hard tanneau cover on it. I upgraded my tires to 285'd from the stock 265's. I had the dealer recalibrate to the 285 tire size. My Question is this. My overhead console MPG reaout say 14.2 all the time. I figured it out and i get 20 hwy and 15.5 city. why dosent it seem to change? I was thinking maybe the batteries need to be disconnected to reset it after the tire size changeout. Any ideas Thanks Jeff M.
IMHO the overhead MPG is absolutely worthless. I have reset mine multiple times and it sticks at 13.1. But when I track my fuel and mileage useage I always get a few MPG higher than that. I think the thing barely gives you a ballpark reading.
However, I did reset my zone and now the compasss does seem fairly accurate. So at least now I know where I'm heading but just don't really know how efficiently
With the 60hp Predator tune, my lie-o-meter reads 26 mpg all while pulling 10,000ft passes in Colorado. I have never really trusted it, even before the tuning.
wow, 26 mpg that is wicked! mine consistantly reads ~20mpg, and it is fairly accurate. i can reset it going 60mph and put it in neutral and it goes up to 99.9mpg! that makes you feel good until you accelerate up that next hill!
Strokin it - I like that trick i'm gonna have to try that one. I have also hand calculated my mileage and its pretty much right on ther money with the overhead console reading also. I have a buddy whose overhead console was right on also but as soon as he chipped it his started giving him greatly inflated mpg no's. evidently its not too chip friendly!
