Seat Mods

I have a 04 Regular Cab with gray cloth seats. I would like to change them to heated leather seats.

I see the black leather takeoffs on ebay, has that seller ever had them in gray?

On factory heated seats, what turns the heat on and off? I dont think I can find the heat element off a 04 truck, but I can go to the U-Wrench-It and pull them out of a Lincoln or something. I could just wire them to a switch but thats a PITA, I would rather do it like Ford does it.

I have never seen them in gray. From anyone but aftermarket. You might be a long time looking.

On the stock seat heaters, I sold a set last summer for about 60 bucks, four panels, two modules. Take outs from a Screw.
They are simple to add.
There is a hot wire and a ground. The signal to turn them on is a simple ground pulse. That takes them to low and they light up an led. Ground them again and they go to high and they then light up a second led. A third push turns them off.
They have a 10 minute timer built into the module.

So you need two LED's and a contact switch to operate a side.
Taking them out of something else should be fine, provided they use the same setup. Be sure and get the modules.
The switches can be very tiny, hidden even and cost about 2-4 bucks each. The LED's are optional and a set of four with resistors should be about 10.00 shipped.
So it's very doable.

Do you have the web address? Or can you tell me where to find the seller for these take offs?

Thanks

They don’t allow eBay links here so search for these numbers.

8004156428 is the eBay number for a set of tan take offs, presently being auctioned.

8004551288 is a set of tan with a buy it now of 300.00

8003892177 is one of several that this vendor has. I bought a set of these. As advertised, these are a great deal.

Gray leather never came in the Lariat so it eliminates finding factory heated seats. You may be able to find a set out of a FX4 or XLT and add aftermarket heaters or just go with the black Lariat seats.

Try Katskinz ....these arn't cheap "covers" that jus go over the exsisting mat'l. They are actual skins that can replace the exsistin' exterior mat'l .... but they also have different seat heater and massager combos ....which in turn you can also vary the mat'l (I'm thinkin of the Grey leather and suede two tone w'some sorta inlay logo) I've installed the skinz on a few vehicles for friends but yet for myself...so its my turn.

Try the skinz....it maybe a cheaper idea for having a 'new' Interior.

Kat stuff is sure great to look at and feel, but dang expensive.
I priced some for the reg cab and when it crossed 900 bucks...

There is a vendor of new leather covers on e-bay, they get 600 or so a row, you put them on.

Thumbs up

There is another set of heater panels currently on ebay item 120083832109. or search "F150 seat heater". Looks like a very low price.

I don't blame you. Those cloth seats feel like sackcloth with sandpaper trim!

I have factory black leather in my truck and I added aftermarket heaters to them. You could add them to any seat. You have to take the seat all apart to install them but well worth the work.

Has anybody added Ford factory heaters? Where did you put the control switches?

i.e., will they fit anywhere down next to the factory fore-aft controls, or should you stick with the dashboard area where the factory puts them?

Most of the ones I've seen added the switch is on the side of the seat. I put mine in the dash next to my back up sensor shut off switch.

I don't like the factory location much myself. Chebby puts theirs on the side of the door. good access but hard to see the indicator lights.
