here is the step by step oil change listed on fords website. hummm what is missing here.
How To Change Your Vehicle's Oil
Park on level surface.
Turn off engine and allow a few minutes for oil to settle.
Put vehicle in PARK.
Set parking brake.
Open hood and locate oil dipstick (usually has small hook-like handle). With a rag, wipe measurement section (lower tip) clean.
Insert it back fully into the engine. Make sure it's all the way in to get an accurate reading. Remove and observe tip.
Level should fall between MIN and MAX. If oil line is below MIN, oil needs to be added.
Replace dipstick into engine.
If more is needed, locate oil cap. It should be marked—check Owner's Manual if you can't find it.
Add the recommended weight oil into engine. (Use a funnel if necessary). If any spills onto engine, wipe it off.
Be sure not to overfill (beyond MAX line), as this could cause engine damage. If in doubt, add a bit and then check level. Repeat until correct level is achieved.
Replace Cap.
it never said to drain the oil. man that is funny. what is up with that part about turn off the engine then put it in park? Someone should write to ford and have them correct this. Good find

My sister in laws husband changes the oil by unscrewing the filter and putting a new one on and than adding 5 quarts of oil, than when he blew the motor in his new grand am he was pissed cause it wasnt covered under warrenty. Some people. Ford needs to fix that or someone just like him will ruin their ride or hurt themselves trying to shut the truck off before putting it in park. At least it tells them to park on a flat surface.
