Frame swapping questions
May I suggest titling the thread with the actual topic ?
It makes it a lot easier for everyone (other new users) when searching the subject.
You may want to read the FAQ thread attached to the top of this forum for other tips.
A few questions:
Are you swapping the 460 out of the 2wd truck?
Do you care about the body on the donor frame?
Does the motor and trans appear to be in good shape in the donor frame?
Are you trying to restore or just take 2 trucks and make one?
If you are trying to piece 2 together here goes.
If you have both truck sitting side by side I would enlist the help of about 4 buddies, the cab and bed are rather heavy. first unbolt the front clip all in one piece ( the 3 bolts on the firewall that hold the inner fenders on. the one bolt on the bottom of the fender that bolts to the cab. and the radiator support bolt might have to be cut. repeat for the passenger side.) Then unbolt the bed. Now thats out the way unbolt the 4 bolts ( I think. never delt with an extended cab. maybe 6) that hold the cab on. Then you will need to disconnect a few wires ie ground wire on body mount, parking brake cables, and trans linkage. then just lift it off. and set it to the side. Then if it were me and I didnt care about the other truck body Id break out the ol torch and repeat. When you have the bare frames sitting there you could easily swap motors and trans. Then put it all back together. I would say cost of renting your buddies I would suggest new bed bolts cab bolts and rad support bolts at minimum grade 8 only. So, about $30 in bolts + time. If you had all day Sat and Sunday youre mildly mechanically inclined and you werent swapping the motor I think it could be done. Good luck hope it helps
PS tell me about your 69 Mustang. I have a 69 Boss 302.

More information about the 4 wheel drive truck would be helpful:
Which model is it?
Is the transfer case divorced, or is it mated to the tranny?
I recomend posting in the offroad and 4x4 forum. Some of the guys there have done a lot of fab work on F-250s. They know these drivelines and chassis inside out.
Good luck, Mike
