Reading Autoweek this week, and they describe the new GM SUV/truck line as having new engines . Topping the line are gas 6.2l w/vvt in 390 and 400hp versions. Below that falls a 6.0l with vvt and displacement on demand with 355hp.
Will Ford let this challenge fall unanswered? Remember, the head castings for the 3v v10 have the neccesary fitments for the VVT. I thinks we now know why! (my guess is 400hp and 490 ftlbs)
I hope the 07 model has the V10 pumped up big time.
If that is true about Chev offering a 400 HP gasser, Ford has to beat that for sure.
I wonder if Chev is going to try and match Ford's payload in SRW pickups.
chevy doing 400hp. lets remember they still use push rods and a small block design. and 2 valves. the v10 is a ohc, 3valve, ford should be able to twist this motor out a lot more then 400hp with no sweat
Charlie, glad to see you decided to stay around a while longer. The V10 should easily be able to handle WAY more then 400 hp, but to be conservative, Ford won't let GM beat them.
I believe that since Ford Racing just started offering headers for the 6.8 you can bet the engine isnt going away.We get beat a bunch in the hp wars, but make superior trq.I would believe they are already Testing some VVT engines.Maybe we could get a slight cu. in. increase.
Well, the 5.4L has excellent low end torque, and winds out really well. Torque is the only thing that really matters when talking about gaining more hp, but with the VVT, the torque curve should be pretty flat, and thats with a massive amount of low end.
ford racing has more then just headers for this motor, you can add a whipple charger kit and and plated valve covers for the 3 valve. my thinking is they have some thing up the old sleve.
v10 klzz71 you can thank tim, and a lot of others about my posting.
