Voltage Guage.

If you run your volt guage direct to your battery does the guage draw enough power from the battery to cause a problem ? I did this on my 86 Corolla and I'm thinking of switching it to the "Acc" position now cause when the car sits for a week the battery goes dead ! how do those old chevy trucks work where the fuel guage always shows the current reading ?

I would think it would cause a problem.

They are not really reading the fuel level when the power is turned off. They are just sitting where the last time the power was on. It's the way the guage is designed, and it does not have a spring return on it. If you drained some gas out of the tank with the power off, the guage would not reflect the new level until you turn the power on. And sometimes if you park on a steep hill they will not stay at the correct place.
