just done the 10k mod and it doesnt work. ok heres what i did , put a three way switch in the cab, came off it with a 5.6 on one side and a 10 on the other side and third wire to the center. ran all three wires to the icp, hooked the top and bottom wires from the switch(5.6&10) to the gray wire on the icp and the center wire from the switch to the blue wire. cant tell any diff in the way the truck idles or runs and i get a check engine light when i switch it to either side.hope someone can help with this....and thanks
It sounds to me like your theory is sound. The switch wiring sounds right, so it must be at the ICP. If it sets the SES light one would think it's wired wrong under the hood. Check the wiring at the ICP and make sure nothing is touching and grounding out.

on edit: are you sure you have a 3 position switch (on-center off-on)?
Hook one resistor to each of the middle two posts. You can solder the pigtails from both of them to a single lead wire and tap that into the grey wire at the ICP. Then hook a lead wire to one of the top posts and the opposite side bottom post, "Y" those two leads together and tap the blue wire at the ICP with that lead. This will put the center position of the switch "OFF", and one of the resistors will be powered with up or down.
10k mod is the act of bridging one of the sensor circuits with a resister to fool the HPOP into raising the oil pressure to the high pressure side of the injectors, which injects more fuel per combustion event. Adds power at the low end, not so much at the top end. The lower the resistance resister, the more power is generated. The lower the resistance, the rougher the idle is.
Here's a .jpg that I made a while back of the version that I put on my truck. There is one correction that must be made to the words on the picture. Substitute the word "series" for "parallel" in the upper left corner.
