It appears they've jacked the price of gas back up to $3 just in time for your trip! Good luck, nothing like a road trip for adventure!

thanks guys, all went well, never missed a beat, only one minor problem with throttle linkage got stiff, quick stop with a little oil off the end of the dipstick on the sticky joint and away we went...only ended up doing 1280 miles, to many side trips up the mountains on dirt roads used up alot of my time, but well worth it..the old 223 gets a little asmatic at 7900 ft...lots of great country to see in Arizona, can't wait to go back

fatfenders, we were in the north, grandcanyon, cottonwood, menguis mountains etc, came back covered in red carpet inside and out.........lol..I lived in Tucson years ago, 1957, but may head over there next year to visit mt brotherinlaw

***** B..got 20.5 mpg on one stretch of hiway...but after that it went way down, to many long grades uphill and lots of dirt roads in low gear in the mountains haven't did a total yet...but I'll post it when I get it fiquered out, but got anywhere from 230 miles per tank (low)to 280(high)

17 MPG is nothing too laugh at, That is fantastic!! The 2005 F-150 I have for a work truck barely gets that (of course I can set the cruise at 95mph on some of these lonely New Mexico roads)

Very cool!

I wish I could do 95, I traveled alot on old route66, no traffic out there but 70 is it... with the overdrive I'm actualy geared to high, I run out of horsepower to pull it but more than a few people were surprised when I past them..........lol
