well, i am going to replace my transmission oil, and i think i have decided on Mobil 1 Synthetic ATF. i went searching on ebay, and i saw 20 quarts (what i need) of Mobil ATF 3309. here is what the auction stated: Mobil ATF 3309 is recommended for use in transmissions made by Aisin AW requiring a fluid approved againstType T-IV, JWS 3309, GM 9986195, Saab 3309, Volvo 1161540, and Audi G-055-025-AZ. These Aisin AW transmissions are used in CERTAIN domestic and foreign vehicles, including Toyota, Lexus, Audi, Saturn, Ford, Volvo, Volkswagen, Saab, Porsche, and Mitsubishi.
This is not a Dexron, Mercon ATF and is for newer cars, typically five speed automatics. Only dealers carry this ATF (own labels) and costs $11-16 per quart.
Check your owners manual or dealer to see if you need any of the above specs for your ATF. If you do, you cannot use other ATF's including synthetic or "universal" ones without risking a transmission damage.
it said that it is "not a Dexron, Mercon ATF''... but i need a MerconIII fluid, right? is this the stuff to use? its only $3.85 a quart on the auction block.\

i was looking into AMSOIL ATF. it seemed good, but i read that you should not use oil rated for both Mercon and Mercon V. but this oil says:
AMSOIL ATF is recommended for automotive and hydraulic applications requiring any of the following specifications:
GM DEXRON® II, DEXRON III
Ford MERCON®, MERCON® V
Chrysler ATF+ through ATF+4®
Honda Z-1 (Not for use in CVT transmissions)
Toyota Type T and T-IV
Mitsubishi/Hyundai Diamond SP II & III
Allison C-3, C-4
Caterpillar TO-2
Voith G1363
ZF TE-ML 14C
Mercedes Benz 236.1, 236.6, 236.7, 236.9
BMW 7045E
SAAB 3309
can i use this? i found redline D4 oil on ebay, and i have read here that this oil is good stuff. and i priced out 20 quarts, and including shipping it is $189.32. is that too much for oil, at $8.15 a quart? i have a amsoil dealer as a friend and he can get the AMSOIL ATF at his cost for me.

This is NOT the ATF to use , Use only Mercon /Dex-III ATF, regular M1 ATf meets Mercon spec. Do Not use Mercon V , unless it is new fill on freshly rebuilt tranny, just easier to remember NO Mercon V. The III portion is from Dexron III. there is no Mercon III spec.
cool. i found a bunch of Royal Purple oil on ebay. $6.99 a quart, which equals to $139.80, with free shipping on 20 quarts. i am thinking of getting two cases (24 quarts, and maybe an extra 4 quarts, and do the transfer case. i have heard that you can use ATF in that, is that true?
the mobil 1 you need says "synthetic ATF DEXTRON/MERCON" on the bottle (i just did a fuild change two days ago) Auto Zone sells it for about $6.00 a bottle
