hi
can you take a 400 crank and put it in a 351m, call it a stroker. If you can what other modifcations do you need to make? it would be like takeing a chevy 400 and putting that crank in a 350 to make it a 383.
hi
i know that but as far as clearance between the block and the crank. i know that youd have to get different piston and rods, just like you do in a 383 stroker.
true but still they say the same about the 350 and 400 small block chevy, but you still have to grind on the block to get the clearance. but i'd like to know if you have done this yourself.
Has someone already stated "a 351M and the 400 are the same. The only difference in the two is that the 400 has a different crank and pistons." Anyone with common sence can do this without any troubles, and no machine work is needed.
BTW the comment about the 350 and 400 having different journals is only half right. The 400 has 2.65 Mains while the 350 has 2.45. Both use a 2.10 rod size.
absoleuteley....my cousin has the exact setup that you are mentioning. the name for this motor would be a 351 modified 408.
I am not sure on the rods that he used but i think that he used 351 cleveland pistons.
