I'm gonna sand my truck down to paint it,(bed) But would a corded or cordless one be better? I got a cordlesss one today but then I got to thinking, how long do the batteries on these things last? I went ahead and got the cordless one because I need the portability and save on the energy bill,But if it would benefit me,I'll take it back and get a corded one. Its a Ryobi brand,I got it a home depot.
What do you guys think?
Yea,but this is a weekend project and cant use the air compressor.
This drill liked to of killed me,I'm tryign to restore this truck on a very tight budget.

Given the option of electric only I'd definitely go for the corded sander. Rechargable stuff never keeps up with the job. Also, don't know if you're just doing light sanding or taking to bare metal but if you do plan on bare metal go to Lowe's and buy some Jasco paint stripper, a metal scraper and some rubber gloves. It'll save SO much time.
An electric orbital will be way better then a cordless. Pick up a detail sander (looks like a triangle head) along with a 5" electric orbital. Get one with holes in the sanding head so the dust can escape while sanding so the sheet does not load up as fast. For doing ridged truck beds, unless it is heavily rusted, that a sanding block (block of wood with a screw down top to hold the sheet) or sanding sponges work the best.
