Hey Tom! Welcome to FTE.

That's a tuff one. You might try asking in the tranny forum. https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/f...splay.php?f=69

Good luck! Wish I could be of more help.

Tom, welcome to FTE and the Kansas Chapter, there are a lot of members that may be able to help on that question but as Centurion said above you might have better luck in the transmission technical forum. I am sure either way someone will be along to help shortly.

What you need to do is find out what type of manual trans was installed in the 4x4 from the factory. The 2wd tranny probably will not work due to length issues.

I am in the middle of trying to figure out how to stuff a 5.0 in a Ranger and from the info I have on that deal, it says you can use a T5 manual trans to hook up to the original transfer case with an adapter. You may not need any adapter for your F150, just do some researching and find out what the factory setup was...then go parts shopping.

Are the trannies the same model?? They should either be an E4OD or an AODE maybe even an AOD. Say it's an AOD, all you need is a tailshaft and output shaft from a 4x4 model and your t-case will bolt right up. If I remember in the 89's it would be an AODE but I'm not sure. Either way the computer won't be a problem, the old EEC-IV system dosen't know the difference between trannies.

I dont want a Manual but am lookin for a Automatic. If ya wanna trade just Private Message me and well set things up!! By the way it was hooked up to a 302. I have the flex plate also but the clutch is gone!! Just let me know!!
