Thanks to all who gave me the advice on changing my 3.73 gears to 4.56 . I just made the change . With my 315/75/16 tires this really brought back life to my truck . I did a lift and the taller tires when my 2002 was weeks old so i didn't realize how much power my bigger tires ate up . I'm still taking it easy with the new gear break in, but i can really tell a difference just taking off from a stop.
Yes, those tires give you a 34.6" wheel height so according to Randy's Ring and Pinion site calculator that gives you 2170 RPM at 70 in an Auto OD with your new 4.56s. Perfect. Take care.
How is the mileage with your new gears. I have 315s on my truck and I'm seriously thinking about going with 4.56s. Is it worth the money? If it hurts my gas mileage more than .5 mpg I don't think I could stand the dent in my pocket book.
well the mileage might be the same at the motor standpoint, but with a lift, you're increasing the profile of your truck in aerodynamics. Therefore any lift will hurt you in the highway mileage.
I average around 9-10 mpg with some highway and mostly city driving. Specs are as follows: '04 F250 cc lb 4x4, V10, 6.5" lift w/ 37s. I am not looking forward to finding out my mpg while towing.
I want 4.88:1s twisting 29" tall by 18" wide and a top rpm to 8000... OH well, guess I will stick to drag racing my Kawa 900 KZ1 (soon getting my hands back on a H2 750 tripple)
Think when I build up the 2v V10 T-Bucket I will go with the 4.88:1 just for the occasional fire breathing wheel stand! (yes virginia, I know I will need a BEEFY front end)
