engine swap

I also have another question. In my 79 f250 i have a 400 in it. I was thinking about how i could do an engine swap. The problem is i have no access to a garage(have to use driveway)and my truck has a 6in susp. lift and a 3in body lift. Does anybody make a hoist big enough to get this bitch out? I was looking for a tranny rebuild kit for it. I am not sure what tranny is in it but it is a 4 speed with the NP205 transfer case. Is it the NP435? Who carries the kit and what does it usually include. sorry for all the questions, but it was my father's truck and he passed away 2 years ago and i just wanna get it back out on the street in memory of him.

engine swap

If it has a synchro first gear---you have a T-19>>>otherwise it could be a t-18 or an np435----I haven't seen nor heard about many t-19's , and more than likely it's a np435 which is the best of the 3 in my opinion.....As to getting the motor out----with all that add'tl lift , you might consider removing all 4 wheels and letting as low as possible---and if you have a friend with a tractor with a frontend loader--say atleast 25 hp---it should beable to extract your motor with no trouble at all!!!!!!!!!!!fd :-X11

engine swap

Here's another option for you: Remove the front clip! It will mean more things to come off, but you can pull the engine right up only a few inches and out forwards. It isn't that hard to do, unless you have a lot of rusted bolts. I did it this way when my garage had too low a ceiling.
Remove the bumper, radiator, A/C, vacuum and heater hoses, battery, starter cable, the underhood hood latch, and grounding strap. Locate and diconnect the disconnectors where the under-hood wiring harnesses mate to the body wiring. I think I got everything. This part is pretty much common sense, though, as almost everything will be easily visible whether or not it needs to be removed.
Remove the 2 frame nuts under the radiator support.
Remove the 3 bolts on each side holding the inner fender to the cab.
Remove the nuts, 1 each side, under the fenders just forward of the cab.
Remove the nuts holding the fenders to the cab, 1 each side, just inside the door.
Leave the hood and hinges on.
Use 2 people to do this. Lift up on the front of the clip to pull the 2 front mounting bolts out, lift the whole clip free of the wheel wells, and walk it forward.
Now, you can EASILY get to exhaust manifold bolts, power steering hoses, and all those other troublesome things that the fenders block you from getting to!
Good luck!
