How do you get the pulley off the power steering pump for a F150? The pump is the one with the plastic fluid reservoir. The shaft has a allen key slot in the shaft, but I'm not sure what it's used for.
I just bought a power steering pump pulley remover for $23.00CDN.
It's the only way to remove them without damaging them.
If you could make something that grab/holds and pulls on the nose of the pulley while screwing/pushing in on the allen wrench part then the pulley will come off.
I just did mine yesterday. Bought a pulley puller from Auto Zone for $15.00. It grabs the pulley on the snout near the shaft. I will assume you have a pressed on pulley. Otherwise, there is a nut that holds the pulley on the shaft. The puller makes short work of changing the pump. Good luck.
I just changed my plastic resorvoir pump last night. I got the rebuilt pump from Oreillys for $55 and they had a loaner pulley remover kit that I used for free. Most of the larger chain auto parts stores should have the free loaner tools. Even with the tool getting the pulley off takes some brute force. Have fun.
