new guy with 05 expy need help
I new to this site; however, I have been following the issues with Ford's expedition. After 2 years of legal battles my family just won an 05 expy. Now that I have the new 05 truck I am starting to get worried about problems. The truck has 1500 miles and beyond the a/c grinding sound that you get upon starting the engine( just like the 03) I now am having a hard time starting this truck on occassion. It will crank erratically and i will have to try to restar it 4-5- times to get it to turn over. I have seen tsb18470 but there is no ellaboration on the problem and of course speaking to Ford is a complete waste of time. Please can someone tell me what they know thanks

I had the same problem with my 05EB, purchased new in Feb. 05. Intermittent starting problem, extended cranking. I finally had enough at 10K miles and took it to the dealer. Upon explanation the service writer immediately said it was the fuel pump and it would need to be replaced. Problem solved. I have over 17K now and no starting issues. I could find no specific TSB or evidence any one else on the forums had their fuel pump replaced. Based on the dealers response I would assume it is a known problem. Be persistent and good luck.
