Hey guys I am swapping powerplants in my truck and elected to swap em as a engine/tranny combo. I picked up a running 87 351w/C6. The tranny operates fine but I was wondering how big a job it is to rebuild a C6. I am a good mechanic I am having the motor built a a local machine shop due to my lack of precision measuring tools and machining facilities. But this old dog might be up my alley. Is this a precision job requiring special tools measuring tools?
What's involved vs what they do, I don't think so. I'll rebuild my own with what I learned from a custom trans shop friend who made mods before these "rebuilders" were out of diapers. Look at that stainless intermediate band crap. Anyone remember the forged steel band that's stronger and can be relined? BTW, trans friend made a trans that years ago became "Linco".
