Ok lets hear it........ Whats the best manuals there to work on these 1978 F-150 trucks? And how about wiring diagrams that show radio connections and such....Vac lines intead of schematics.........

Or just search for hard copy OEM Helm manuals in E bay. I bought the full set for my 76, and even later found the OEM electrical schematics. I use them all the time. I shelled out around $120 for the manual set. And lucked out on the schematics, getting them for less than $10. A lot of money in total, sure. Worth it? Absolutely! They quickly paid for themselves. And as computer operating systems change, my hard copy will play without any computer.

For $50 you can have a COMPLETE set of manuals on CD with wiring diagrams, sales brochures, etc. For that price you can buy another set in 10 years on storage crystals or whatever and be money ahead if for some reason computers forget how to read files from a CD. Spend the extra $80 on something nice for your truck.

Welll I went to the store here and ordered my CD for this truck...... so hope it goes into a little more detaile then haynes and chilton books did...... Have another question though...... this truck has a 1978 cab and frame..... but the bed has been changed..... the tail lights and striping suggest 1984.... is there any other way to tell for sure..... and what else would this affect besides bumper, tailights?

The wiring digrams are a little more specific except for Option Circuit run lines.
They are extremely great for identifying the actual connector used in circuits.
On the lens is a DOT number that relates to the year of design.
The lens in 1980 changed so it could be 80 on the lens
What is that number ?

84 I believe......Does that affect anything else on the rear besides tail lights, bumper.......would gas lines and gas tank still be 1978? Are those Option circuits the radio and stuff that you could have or what you do have?
