I have a 77 F-100 with stock A/C and my fan quit blowing.
I can hear the compressor kick on so I know that still works, but my vent / fan doesn't blow at all.
Has anyone else have this problem before on their rig? If so what's the solution?
Could it just be electrical or did somthing burn up.
There is a resistor bridge that controls fan speed that sits inside the plenum. remove the glove box liner to see the connector. Pull this part, it likes to melt/break and also you'll be able to test the hot leads from the fan speed switch and test the inputs to the fan motor. This may or may not be it, but it's where I'd start looking. GL
I'll see if I can get to all that. Any other ideas?
I have another question.
On my 79 Bronco(basically a F-150) the fan works for the first and second fan speed, but after that it starts squeeling and making full of nasty noises till I turn it to a lower speed.
I guess that will go on the to do list, which has no budget right now(I won't buy and new fan for the Bronco until I put the A/C back on, previous owner took it off for some reason).
Any other ideas about why the truck fan won't even work?
That's it on the truck fan. The motor is burnt or it is not getting power. Thats why I sent you to the resistor... it is the first place to find the fan motor leads, (or darn close).and easiest to test both directions. gl
