Intermittent Emissions light
My 04 PSD recently started to have the emissions light come on. It does this intermittantly, sometimes on and off 2-3 times a day. I took it to the dealer, twice -once the light would not come on when I started it (it was on all day of course) and today I took it and left it running. The service rep saw the light but wanted me to leave the truck (I couldnt). No other trouble lights are on, and it runs just fine. My Diablo Predator shows no codes.

Have you responded to the recent recalls on your vehicle? CAC tube, wire harness, EBP sensor, and flash for the EGR valve operation. There's a reason for the light coming on, no sense ignoring it. The light will come on, and go off by itself after a certain number of start cycles, but the code will be retained in the PCM.

The problem doesn't go away when the light goes out, the code is still retained in the PCM. The light goes out after a certain number of ignition cycles, that's all. It doesn't fix itself.

In my case the EGR was staying stuck open. Since the EGR directly affects emissions I belive this is what was causing the light to come on. So it seams to me unpluging the EGR when it is in the closed position would fix the problem.
