I have the ford trailer plugs for the trailer lights. I was wondering if there is some kind of brake controller built into these from the factory because the cover identifies which prong is for the trailer brakes. Its a 2003 F350 without any upfitter switches or anything in the cab.
I added a brake controller on my 2000 F350 V10 dump truck. I wanted to make sure I didn't already have something on this truck before I go asking to get one installed. If the plug is already there under the dash then I should be able to install the controller myself. Is this a dealer only item?
Any electric brake controller will fit as an easy plug and play. Your truck has the plug to connect to in the dash area behind where the 4x4 switch is or would be if a 4x2. It should be on the right side of the main dash brace that is to the right of the drivers right leg. That a lot of rights, right? Lots of controllers to choose from, most common one I hear of is the Prodigy.
