He just recently put in a new electric fuel pump, and is having problems with some wires that have something to do with the toggle switch. They keep burning up.
This is a general answer. A electric fuel pump is usually a pretty heavy load, depending on what type it is. And you have to have special DC rated switches to switch DC circuits. A switch rated for ac will not last.
I have a feeling this is not going to work, unless you get out there with him and see what's going on, or get him to describe whats going on while you type on the computer. We need stuff like:
