Tick...tick...tick...
i know this has been beaten to death,but i have a tick..tick...noise at idle and in gear (sounds like a timer)is this the injectors or the dreaded cam phaser problem....i do not hear it in the cab w/ windows up...

Ford has a service message that the 3v engine is expected to make a ticking noise, you are supposed to listen to it on both sides and compare it to another vehicle, have had several of them come in and nothing is wrong.

The cam phaser noise is much more pronounced than the injector noise. It is also more of a "nock" than a "tick". The cam phase sensor noise is also usually louder on the passenger side. If you stick your head down near the passenger side wheelwell, you will definitely hear a distinct "knock". I had many other people notice my "knocking" even before I had heard it. The noise usually is noticed after the engine warms up and the oil is thinned out.
I had both cam phasers replaced about 600 miles ago, and my truck is very quiet now
