I have a 78 F150 4x4 with tilt wheel. I have replaced the $100.00 blinker switch for the last time. They don't last more than a month or two, then the plastic on the cam breaks. I think it is due to these pieces being 20 years old, and the plastic is very thin at the cam. It will always break when it gets 20-30 degrees below zero here in Minnesota. Is there any place I can buy just the blinker switch cam? I can't afford $100 every couple of months. Junk yards are out of the switches for tilt wheel trucks. The cam is a half inch wide and arcs around 3 inches long, with two wires going to it. It gets tiring holding the blinker sitting at stop lights. Thanks.
I think that that part can be bought from a parts store from the "Help" rack, you might have to do a little enginering, I've seen them there, I've never done it, but it does look pretty much the same, they are only a few bucks, if you can't find one where you are I'll be glad to send you one.
You might also try a little grease on the areas where it contacts the ears so it won't be so likely to break next time.
if you dont find one here call obsolete ford.they have them for 15.00.# is (800)654-3247 to order. for info and questions call(405)631-3933. they are open till one on sat.
I got oe for my 77 non tilt. when you buy the knew one look carefully at it because there are subtle difference in them such as the length of the stiff metal wires, and the location and shape of the post on the backside of the cam. i ended up clipping and bending the wiers on the back after i bought the 4th or 5th one. good luck
