1) When I go to start the truck it rarely will start as the starter is turning. In order for it to pop I have to let off the starter and see if she wants to run. If it does run it pops immediately after I stop turning the starter. Any ideas?
2) When I turn the engine off it likes to start running backwards in almost a dieing style chug. I always have it in gear and the clutch ready to stop it. Any ideas?
Besides starting and turning it off the motor runs, idles and pulls great. Thanks for any help.
Could be several things, dieseling is usually caused by incorrect timing, fuel mixture, or carbon deposits(hot spots) in the combustion chambers. In order to get my old 79 F-150 to pass smog, I would swap a smaller carb on and lean it out, which would cause it to diesel when shut off.
