460 fuel milage increase?
I have a 1995 F-350 CC 4x4 with a 460 and C-6 speed auto and 3.08 gears. Based on what I have seen on the board my milage at 6-7 mpg is pretty bad. I use it around the farm and running to town, the milage is always the same, pulling stumps, hauling stone or getting groceries. The truck is in good tune, it runs fine, the milage just sucks. Spending $6 to make a 12 mile trip is a drag. Any good suggestions to increase milage without spending real money?

local driving, hauling, rough roads etc, don't help your mileage. Depending what gears you have a numerically lower gear might be better. Also, a 3-speed will never give you the same mileage as any tranny with an overdrive... so if you really want to rack up the mileage at a minimum cost, you might considering the aggrevation of swapping a ZF 5sp or an AOD automatic. I think I got that designation correct. I don't do automatics

farmer4:
I get that kind of mileage on my 16700# motorhome. I have a 460 EFI with a C6 backing it up and a set of 5.12 gears rolling over 8R19.5 tires. I drive it on the highway at 55 - 60 mph and get 6.0 MPG while pulling my Chevrolet Tracker. While traveling down the road without the TOAD, I usually get 7.0 and have even got as high as 7.75 and that is when I have been pushing the max GVWR of 18340#. I keep pretty accurate records for this coach, so I know that these figures are right.
Now talk about crying, that is when I am filling up my 90 gallon tank.

I get 9 on my 87(carburated) C6, F250HD, regular cab, 4.10's, 460, I'd say that those 3.08's are probably killin you, it sounds like you do mostly slow, stump pulling, country road driving, or otherwise slow driving. Those 3.08's would help on the freeway, but in town they'll suck you dry.
