I have a 86 F-150, C6, and a 92' 5.0L HO converted over to carb. It has on it currently a edelbrock performer intake, edelbrock 600cfm carb, headers, the stock heads are ported and milled. People have been telling me that the edelbrock carbs are just not as good as a holley. I have a 650cfm holley. My question is which carb would give me all around better performance the Edel 600cfm or the Holley 650cfm?????
Either one will work fine if tuned correctly. If you swap one for another, and one of them makes it run better, then it was probably chance that one was tuned a little closer to your engine than the other.
Both designs are good. Both designs will run better if you get a book and learn about tuning them to your set-up. I do believe the edelbrock may give you better part-throttle performance because of it's metering system with the needles, but that won't matter much if you are looking for WOT performance.
i would stick with the edelbrock. Holleys dont like 4wds, they flood alot and blow power valves easily. you can make them work but have to do some mods to the carb for it to operate properly.
