Thanks for your response, I would like to know if one was ever in the past if there is a way, and if there is a way to tell if one is on the truck now. I've only had the truck a little over a month. 58000 miles.
Thanks....Robert
1966racer - There is almost no chance your truck is running a modified tune unless they gave you the tuner with the truck (because the tuner itself is useless unless the factory tune was re-installed, ie it can't be used on another truck). If a tuner was used sometime in the history of your truck it probably erased that fact when the original factory tune was re-installed. Now, another possibility would be some type of fueling box and I don't know how long it would take for any codes thrown by such a device to go away - Matt - HELP. Kurt
A flash tuner has such a small chance of leaving a feasible trace on any year model vehicle that there's simply no for-sure method of giving a positive answer on that (including 06MY, despite what Ford might lead you to believe )
As for a fuel box, sometimes, if you know what you are doing (ie, good tech or field engineer) you can spot some evidence, but it depends largely on to what degree the previous owner took in covering it back up, and how long it has been since it was removed. Once again, I don't really think at this point there is anything that will help determine.
Thanks guys for the responses, theres no particular reason I want to know. This is my first diesel. I have a 1966 Pontiac LeMans drag car that weighs 3300 lbs. and trailer approx 2000 lbs plus generator, tools and other gear that go along with a day of racing and this truck tows it so effortlessly I thought maybe it had been "cranked up", but I guess it is just the trucks massive ability. Thanks for the info.
