The wife just booked us a trip to Ocho Rios Jamaica. Staying at the Sandal's resort. Looks like an awesome place. Anyone else been here? Likes, dislikes?
Never been to Jamaica, but I know some folks that have been to Sandals/ all-inclusive resorts. I hear mixed reviews; some said they loved it, others felt that, because they paid for everything up-front, that their was no incentive (ie, tips) to provide anything other than the most minimal service, food and beverages.
I haven't been, but have always wanted to. I can just hear the soothing sounds of the steel drums....the soft splash of the waves hitting the beach...
I would have a frosty cold pina coloda in one hand and a fine Royal Jamaican cigar in the other.
Well, I hope you and your wife have a great time!!!! She sounds like an awesome lady to have booked ya'll at a fine resort in another country. I took a peek at the Sandals of Jamaica website and the water looks ice blue and the sands are so clean and white. I'm jealous. Have fun and be safe.

Can't wait to go.
Hi Max
My wife and I went to that resort for our honeymoon. It is a nice resort but is the smallest of the Sandals in Jamaica. The beach is fairly small and limited in the water toys they have and the pools are small too. However food is great, same with the entertainment and the staff. Take advantage of the buses that go to the other Sandals that you can visit. The next closest one has a huge pool, nice beach and good restaurants. There is a
mall about 2 minutes from the Sandals resort and some bars nearby if you want to check out the "local nightlife".
I'd say the Ocho Rios Sandals is the most sedate resort (as in partying), however some guests were able to change to the other Sandals I mentioned above while they were there.
No matter which one you stay at, I believe you will have a great time
PM me if you want to hear more.... even have pictures here somewhere...
I was there. A good amount to see and enjoy. As in travel to any foreign place, be careful. Watch your valuables. Don't go to deserted spots. They never found the girl in Aruba. (I think that's where it was). And probably never will.
To them you are a rich American. They will cater to you. Enjoy it. You will hate to come home and go back to work. The beaches are great. Make sure you see the falls. There are a lot of tours you can take. If you need somebody to carry your bags just let me know. Enjoy.
Beautuful place to go, but like trike1946 said your a walking pile of money to them. The only advise I can tell you is that dont let them try to coax you into one of there shops, they can be very pushy and wont let you go unless your willing to buy something from them, always travel in groups, your safer that way.
