I wouldn't mind keeping a manual trans, but I need another gear for highway driving. Any ideas on a tranny that would help solve this problem. It's in a 78 ranger w/351m. I'm open to any ideas. Thanks.
The C6 has the same high gear as the 435 which is 1.1
The cheapest swap would a ZF 5 spd manual trans which has an overdrive.
You could swap in a E4OD but you'll find it a little pricey.
The AOD requires an adapter and IMHO it's junk.
As soon as I finish other projects I've been working on, I will be swaping out the C6 for a NV4500 in my 79 Bronco. I got every thing I need to do it except time. I bought a rebuildable trans did the work myself two adapters from Advance and it's still cheaper than a E4OD.
