First my tranny ran hot so after posting the problem here and hearing everyone's advice, I had it re-built and beefed up - triple lock tc, new clutchs, custom built valve bodies. But, the mechanic did not replace the mechanical diode despite my request. Drove from Houston to Newton, KS and the tranny grenaded due to diode failure, blew the clutches, etc.. Left it in a shop for 8 days and had it rebuilt and beefed up again. Had to rent a CAR to get where I was going. How humiliating can you get?
Now the shift is not as crisp or firm, I have to give it gas to get reverse to lock up, especially when its cold, and it runs warmer than it did though temps are well within specs. Really want my firm, crisp shifts back but am a little hesitant to go back to the original tranny shop. Suspect the second shop replaced the valve bodys and etc.
IMHO there are only a few places to get an auto that will hold up to a moded PSD. Suncoast, BTS, ATS or Monster Box these are the best. Yes you will pay more, the waranty and performance are worth it.
The temps are up because the clutches are too loose. Slipage causes heat. I would have this problem corrected. Left alone it may outlast the waranty but how long will it last?
