Tonight I was going down the road and passed another truck in the dark and bam. They accidently sideswept me, banging the mirrors only. Thank goodness. The plastic housing is fine but the mirror itself is shattered. Is it possible to replace only the glass mirror part? If so is it a simple pop in tyoe thing or how difficult would it be to replace. Any help at all will be appreciated. Thanks.
Good thing it wasn't the whole unit. Some kind passer-by smacked mine off last spring while it was parked and it cost around $140 because of the heated mirror with built in turn signal. Installation wasn't a breeze either. Best of luck to you.
Take a chisle and finish scrapping off the broken part. See what a replacement glass costs, should be no more than $8-10. Then just epoxy it in and hold with masking tape until it sets up. My cousin owns a glass shop, he just charges the cost of the mirror to do these types of repairs. If the glass is more than that lrt me know I will see what he can get one for.

Where did you order the part at? Mine simply broke when I attempted to push it closed. Dealer wants $275 to replace it. Also since it broke just by closing it, shouldn't it be covered under warranty?
You don't have heated or defrosted mirrors by chance do you? Also the passenger side one is convex, definitely a necessity to replace it with the same.
had my driver side housing replaced, with heat and turn signal. The part was like $85 or something and labor was about $60 I think. Ask your parts counter guy if he'll give you the wholesale price and then throw twenty back. Good deal for everyone-- you get cheap parts, parts guy gets beer money and dealer gets your repeat business!

And if his boss sees him, he gets fired, no unemployment. Every company I ever worked selling parts etc. had that as a firm policy. A parts guy taking favors can ruin a dealership.
Bring in donuts, sodas, etc. Or even order them pizza, but if the guy puts cash in his pocket, he's asking for it.
A guy 'helping out his friends' can cost any parts operation its margin.
Not to say being nice to him, or even buying him coffee etc. is a bad thing. And we all know we can get discounts with a friendly smile, or a good line of BS.
That's part of doing business. But when cash changes hands in the parts business, it better be on an invoice...
arctic cat matt, your heart is in the right place, but think of it as giving cash to a cop or a banker... Not such a good idea.
Now the last guy that rotated some tires for me got a ten dollar tip, and warm thanks, as he did it just the way I like it.
But he doesn't handle a quarter million bucks worth of inventory and lots of cash... I also asked his boss first.
