rev limiter

rev limiter

I noticed that when I hit the rev limiter the battery light comes on, is this normal?

Not normal. Your belt may be slipping at high RPMs.

I used some belt spray today and problem solved. thanks

Glad that was it! But, the use of "belt dressing" is, at best, a temporary fix. Buy a new belt and keep the old one in the truck as a spare- in case something happens out on the road.

Early V10's were known for this, probably '99 up through '03 or so... My '01 did it too.

It would love to screech at the 1st-to-2nd shift.

Get a "toothed" belt - not one like the stock Ford one with continuous ridges.

Dayco makes one, and I'm sure Gates makes one.

Check your tensioners while you're in there too, if they are AT ALL loose, change them right away.

this is a 04 V10 with 25,000 miles.
