Does anyone have the "unladen weight" of a 1988 Ranger 4X4, automatic, 2.9L engine?
I am in the middle of a reconstruction struggle after having my Ranger "totalled" by the offending insurance company for a crinkled fender and a broken leaf spring. After doing all the leaps through hoops to get the Penssylvania form filled out, it turns out that the original title did not list an "unladen weight", just the GVW (4125 lb), and short of finding a place that would literally weigh the truck, (after removing the camper top), the easiest solution is to pick a number close to the factory spec, and have my inspection mechanic verify it.
If anyone has the info in an owner's manual, or works for Ford, I'd really appreciate the help!

Could'nt find the unladen weight in the owners manual for my 87 2WD/5 speed/2.9, but the California registration card shows the weight to be 2749 pounds.
Add a couple hundred for the auto trans/front diff/trans case & that should be close enough for government work.
that seems to be about right. I found reciepts from a landfill company that showed a tare weight of 3420 after dumping a load of garbage. That included the fiberglass High-top cap, which I'm guessing at about 150 lbs, so that would suggest a curb weight of 3270, so if I guess at around 3100 it ought to be good enough. Will talk to inspection mechanic on his opinion. Thanx again for your kind help.
